Arc/Info 7.2.1 for Windows-NT network or local installation. RevPG has not been completely tested on Arc/Info 8.0.
Arc/Info 7.0.4 or higher for Unix.
Some functions of RevPG are dependent on functionality available at Arc/Info version 7.0.4. Most of the dependent functions are in the base sheet creation part of RevPG. A few newer AML functions are used throughout the RevPG software.
ARCPRESS extension required for plot submission and graphics file format change (.gra to .tif). If you do not need to create hardcopy or TIFF images, you will not need ARCPRESS to run RevPG.
Fontindex File
The fontindex file is used to intitialize fonts in Arcedit and Arcplot. Additional fonts are
necessary to create USGS Part 5 Publication standard topographic maps. The ESRI extended
font package contains the fonts, and must be loaded with Arc/Info for text capability. You
also may purchase individual fonts and install them in the Arc/Info setup. The fontindex file
must be updated to reflect additional fonts. Below is a table listing fonts not included with
the standard Arc/Info release, but are necessary for full RevPG annotation and base sheet
plotting capabilities.
| Arc/Info Font Reference | Font Name |
| 90316 | Souvenir Light |
| 90332 | Souvenir Light Italic |
| 00334 | Souvenir Medium |
| 04025 | Univers Light |
| 94037 | Univers Light Condensed |
| 03511 | Univers Condensed |
The fontindex file is located in the Arc/Info installation under the locale/c directory. A standard entry in the fontindex file looks like this:
To identify what font entries are in your current fontindex file, I have provided
an aml, fonttest.aml, in the myrevpg/site directory of the RevPG installation
to perform this task. To run the test, start up Arc/Info, from the Arc command line type:
&r myrevpg/site/fonttest
This will create an Arc/Info graphics file you may view or print. The output will
contain the Arc/Info font index number and a printed line using the font being tested.
Example of successful font:
Test 94021: This is a test of 94021
Example of unsuccessful font:
Test 00334:
If additional fonts are installed you will need to update the fontindex file
so Arc/Info will recognize and use the fonts. If you have fonts residing
on your plotting device, the PS-NAME entry in the fontindex file must match
the font name on the plotting device. Please refer to the Arc/Info on-line help
for more information.
