Conformance testing verifies how well a product complies with a standard. Conformance testing for the Spatial Data Transfer Standard (SDTS), also known as Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 173, is carried out under procedures established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). SDTS conformance testing verifies conformance to a specific SDTS profile which is a limited subset of the SDTS such as the Topological Vector Profile (TVP). For more information visit the SDTS Home Page.
Three types of products can be tested in an SDTS conformance test: SDTS transfers (datasets), SDTS encoders, and SDTS decoders.
