Topic: Development of a CADD Profile

Intergraph and Autocad were used for the development. Both the
Topological Vector Profile (TVP) and the Transportation Network Profile (TNP) were used to
develop the CADD Profile. The TVP document was used as a base to write the CADD Profile.
There were new elements and features added to develop the CADD Profile. The new elements included
the directed lines which have a starting point and a direction, and unbound lines which continues
in both directions. The new features added include an X&Y that are loosened from the TVP,
attributes that are unused or had unknown values were modified, mapping of complex curves,
and the ability to include URL's. These new elements and features were added because CADD
software uses 3 dimensional elements and complex curves that are not common to most GIS.
The data supported by this profile is 2 dimensional vector data, or 3 dimensional vector data
where the 3rd dimension is the "height" of the object. This data may or may not have topology.
Excluded are raster data and 2 dimensional transfers already represented by another profile.
This profile is currently in draft form and has been submitted to the FGDC for approval.
