SDTS++ is a programmers toolkit for reading and writing SDTS datasets. It is not an end user application, but is source code that can be used by application programmers to write finished applications.

The toolkit is written in C++, and has an object-oriented design that reflects the organization of the SDTS standard. It is composed of two major subsystems: a container subsystem and an I/O subsystem. These in turn are composed of various C++ classes.

SDTS++ has been compiled on Unix and Windows 95 and NT systems. The compilers used were GNU gcc 2.7.2 and VC++ 5.0 respectively.

The read capabilities of the toolkit are complete, though not fully debugged. The write functions are still in work. A number of sample applications have also been written, but little formal documentation is yet available. The USGS decided to release the toolkit at the workshop so that other software developers could see the progress, examine the toolkit, and provide feedback.

The SDTS++ web site is at http://mcmcweb.er.usgs.gov/sdts/sdtsxx

The toolkit is public domain software.
